UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING GROUP AND DISNEY MUSIC GROUP EXPAND RELATIONSHIP
New Administration Deal Adds Representation in European Continent, U.K., Ireland, Israel and various territories in Africa and the Caribbean
SANTA MONICA, January 16, 2018 – Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading global music publisher, and Disney Music Publishing (DMP), the music publishing arm of The Disney Music Group (DMG), today announced a new agreement that expands the territories in which UMPG will administer DMP’s catalogs to include the United Kingdom, Ireland, continental Europe, as well as Israel and countries in Africa and the Caribbean.
The agreement, effective January 1, 2018, significantly builds upon the companies’ existing global relationship. UMPG currently administers DMP’s music publishing catalogs in South East Asia, and many territories in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with UMPG into Europe and beyond. Their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit make for the perfect match for Disney Music Publishing,” said Ken Bunt, President, DMG.
“Disney is home to one of the most iconic catalogs in history, one that spans cultures, generations and genres,” said Jody Gerson, UMPG CEO and Global Chairman. “We are honored to expand our global collaboration with Disney and we look forward to developing outstanding creative opportunities that build on the company’s outstanding legacy.”
UMPG began representing DMP’s music publishing catalogs in 2004 through a Southeast Asia sub-publishing agreement. In 2015, UMPG’s representation expanded to include Latin America (excluding Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay), and various countries in the Middle East, North Africa, East Africa and the Caribbean. In 2016, the relationship was enhanced yet again to include South Africa and additional African countries.
