Fantastic Mr. Fox (Original Soundtrack) From ABKCO Records
Wes Anderson Film Includes Music From The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Bobby Fuller Four, Burl Ives, Jarvis Cocker & More...
ABKCO Records will release the original soundtrack to Twentieth Century Fox’s FANTASTIC MR. FOX both on CD and digitally November 3rd. This album features score from Academy Award ® nominated and Golden Globe ® winning composer, Alexandre Desplat, and an eclectic range of evocative songs from the Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Art Tatum, Burl Ives, Jarvis Cocker. Cocker co-wrote and performed the track entitled “Petey’s Song,” especially for the film.
FANTASTIC MR. FOX is visionary director Wes Anderson’s first animated film, utilizing classic handmade stop-motion techniques to tell the story of the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach).Peter Travers of Rolling Stone Magazine calls the film “literate stop-motion magic that deserves to be called groundbreaking”.The film features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Wally Wolodarsky, Eric Anderson, Michael Gambon, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson, and Jarvis Cocker. The screenplay is by Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach, and the film is produced by Allison Abbate, Scott Rudin, Wes Anderson and Jeremy Dawson.
Mr. and Mrs. Fox (Clooney and Streep) live an idyllic home life with their son Ash (Schwartzman) and visiting young nephew Kristofferson (Eric Anderson). But after twelve years of quiet domesticity, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr. Fox’s wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground without enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers - Boggis, Bunce and Bean - who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr. Fox at any cost.
FANTASTIC MR. FOX was selected to open this year’s London Film Festival on October 14th. On this side of the Atlantic, FANTASTIC MR. FOX is scheduled for limited release by Twentieth Century Fox on November 13th and wide release on November 25th.
Previously, Anderson, ABKCO and Twentieth Century Fox teamed for the critically acclaimed soundtrack to THE DARJEELING LIMITED that also featured the acting talents of Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. Likewise, THE DARJEELING LIMITED’S music supervisor was Randall Poster who acted in that same capacity for FANTASTIC MR. FOX. Some of his more recent credits include THE HANGOVER, GREY GARDENS AND REVOLUTIONARY ROAD.

Even prior to The Darjeeling Limited, Anderson, working with music supervisor Randall Poster, has had a lengthy history of using music from ABKCO’s classic Rolling Stones catalog. 1996’s BOTTLE ROCKET included “2000 Man,” RUSHMORE utilized “I Am Waiting” (as well as The Who’s “A Quick One While He’s Away” from ABKCO’s The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus) while THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS incorporated “She Smiled Sweetly” and “Ruby Tuesday.” In keeping with that tradition, “Street Fighting Man” is heard on the FANTASTIC MR. FOXsoundtrack.
